"The World Is Flat"

I chose "The World is Flat" because i'm interested in globalization and how the world is changing from it. I think it will be interesting to read since it's something different from what we usually read. I would like to learn more about how the world is changing economically and I will soon become a part of making economic choices in this forever changing world. This will help give me a better understanding of how were competing with other countries and how technology is effecting our world so much. Kids in my generation see technology as the greatest thing but most people don't see the negative effect it could have on everybody.

"To Awaken the Spirit in the Downtrodden" by Al Mills and Nnamdi Chukwuocha

The authors write for other people. They write to save people and to help them. They write to save the youth; to save them from terrible things. Al Mills writes to to all the people that know pain and to give a voice to all the beautiful everday things. They both write about the wrong things in the world that should be right and shouldn't happen. The tone of these poems were sad. They were depressing because it talked mostly aboyt the negative things in life. These papers tied in pathos mostly because they showed a lot of emotion. It talks about how they write for people. It also showed passion because the writers want to help these people everyday and as much as they can. My favorite part of the poem was, "I write to give a voice to all the beautiful everyday things like birds flying south and leaves turning colors that get over looked." The paper uses a lot of slang.  (http://www.nwp.org/cs/public/print/resource/3660)

"Why I Write" by Terry Tempest Williams

I liked this paper because it has a lot of imagery. For example, "I write to soothe the voices shouting inside me, outside me, all around me." This paper speaks to me because I like how the writer expresses herself. "Why I write" appeals to me because it has so much passion. Her tone is inspirational. This text shows that there is so much more to writing then most people see. Everybody writes for different reasons. This paper mostly ties in pathos because it shows passion and imagery. One of my favorite sentences in this paper is, "I write because it is dangerous, a bloody risk, like love, to form the words, to say the words, to touch the source, to be touched, to reveal how vulnerable we are, how transient."
